One of the biggest challenges we face is raising awareness of the role and value of Hearing Dogs. Having 'Registered Speakers' who are trained to give presentations on our behalf means we are able to raise awareness of Hearing Dogs across a greater geographical area than would otherwise be possible.
We currently have nine volunteers trained as registered speakers in Auckland, Nelson, Dunedin, New Plymouth, Wellington and Wellsford with another six wishing to become trained shortly. All speakers are happy to explain more about Hearing Dogs to groups and clubs wanting to know about our work. So if you're looking for a speaker for your club why not give us a call?
We do not charge for speaking but welcome a donation and contribution towards travel expenses. If there are no trained speakers in your area why not consider becoming one yourself?
Becoming a registered speaker is a great way of meeting new people whilst raising awareness of the benefit a Hearing Dog can be to a deaf person. Full training and materials are provided to those wishing to volunteer their services. All speakers give their time voluntarily.
